On Saturday 24 June, the Night of Museums will be held again at the Palace of the National Archives of Hungary at the Bécsi Kapu Square! This year again, a colourful programme of events will welcome visitors to the country's largest and most popular cultural event, this time organised around timeless and changing trends to show how different influences have shaped our culture and influenced later eras. In addition to the traditional building tours and archival exhibitions, this year's focus is on digital archives and the legacy of János Neumann, which we will present through interactive programmes and digital tools.

A Night at the Archives

The building of the National Archives of Hungary was built on the northern side of the Buda Castle in a historical style after the architect Pecz Samu's plans. The building's structure and wall-paintings were finished in the 1920s. The institution safeguards the most important documents of the Hungarian history, such as documents of historical importance, noble families' archives, records of companies, associations. and state administrative bodies, in the size of about 83,000 linear metres.
