Folk Arts and Crafts Collection
This spacious vaulted building was built by the former city magistrate in 1793 to supplement his income as a "brewery" and brandy house. Its construction was entrusted to József Hacker, carpenter from Pest, who completed his task in five months and six days. Brewing began on August 1st, 1793 by János Petz. Originally, the building complex included a "beer" and brandy brewhouse, a dry mill, stable for oxen that carried the beer, a barn and a well.
It was transformed into the Museum of Hungarian Folk Arts and Crafts on December 7th, 1984 with the sacrifice of the Bács-Kiskun County and the City Council and significant social cooperation.
The Folk Arts and Crafts Collection currently functions as an exhibition space of the Katona József Museum of Kecskemét, in addition to permanent and temporary exhibitions, we awaits you with traditional events and high-quality programs!
