Sashiko workshop
Different location: Courtyard of Dubniczay Palace and Castle Gallery, Vár utca 29.
Decorating and recycling with small stitches
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese hand sewing technique originally used to strengthen and repair clothes. The stitches, decorated with repeating geometric patterns, not only made the textile more durable, but also gave it a special aesthetic value.
During the workshop, we will learn the basics of this special Japanese stitch technique, the tools needed for sashiko and together we will start our first stitches. We will practise some classic motifs and each participant will be able to make a sashiko pattern of their choice.
The workshop is ideal for beginners, the emphasis is on relaxation, creation and exploring Japanese craft traditions.
The programme is ongoing, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The session will be delivered by Eszter Marton.
