Money and power: the dawn Hungarian minting

At the turn of the first millennium, a new power was born in Europe, the Kingdom of Hungary. The young Stephen who emerged victorious from the wars, issued money as the first king of the country on the occasion of his coronation, thus establishing the independent Hungarian mint. But what path led to the first Hungarian silver coins? During the course of this lecture, we will look at the circumstances that lead to the development of the Hungarian mint, the relationship between the sovereignty of the monarch and money, since it was already true 1000 years ago: money is power.
